Writing software since 1986: ARM assembly, broadcast video, high-performance databases, cloud platforms for banks and broadcasters. These days my work bridges two worlds that don't usually meet: large-scale public-sector data platforms (currently Natuurmonitoring at BIJ12) and independent music technology under my own flag, Bonboa. The latest there is Bacara, a generative MIDI pattern generator.

Now: Bacara

Bacara is a multi-channel MIDI generating plugin (VST3, AU, CLAP and standalone, for macOS and Windows) designed with performance at its core: fluidity over micro-management. It crafts cohesive, evolving patterns rather than the note salad of basic random generators. Written in C++ with JUCE, with AI-assisted pattern generation built in.

Before that

A few stops along the way: video software at Silicon Graphics in Mountain View, leading the Cyborg compositing team at 5D in London, the R&D at NOB that grew into Uitzending Gemist, CI/CD for 2500 developers at ING, the new Telegraaf website at TMG, and architecture for NPO, RIVM and the Ministry of Defence. On the side: Soundlabel, whose piano sounds ended up in The Dark Knight.
